Phoenix media wall examples: Ten Valley projects, what was built and what each cost

Custom media wall in Peoria with white stacked stone and a linear fireplace

Nov 6, 2026  •  Todd Whittaker Drywall, Inc. has served over 46,000 customers in the past 30+ years.

In this post, we're highlighting ten specific projects from Phoenix, Scottsdale, Peoria, Surprise, and Litchfield Park, with costs ranging from $9,000 to $45,000 and construction timelines of two to five weeks. Seven include a fireplace, and three don't. The lowest-cost walls used paint, limewash, laminate, or homeowner-supplied stone with open shelves. The highest-cost walls added full cabinetry or built-ins.

Photos of finished media walls are everywhere, but what you don't always see is everything that goes into creating them. From wall size and materials to construction time and overall cost, the story goes beyond the finished product.

Todd Whittaker Drywall, Inc. is a design-build remodeling contractor in Phoenix, and custom media walls are one of our specialties. Each project below lists the same nine details: wall size, TV, fireplace, feature finish, storage, composition, lighting, timeline, and budget range.

Since 1996, TWD has designed and built more than 500 custom media walls and entertainment centers throughout the Greater Phoenix area. With 30 years of experience, over 700 customer reviews across multiple platforms, and an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau, our reputation speaks for itself. We are also proud members of NARI Greater Phoenix and have been recognized by Remodeling Magazine's Big50 and Qualified Remodeler's Top 500. The following ten projects showcase the variety of media walls we've designed and built over the years. Each project includes dimensions taken directly from the original elevation and construction drawings, along with insight into the design decisions that helped bring each space to life. While the finished photos tell part of the story, understanding the planning, craftsmanship, and details behind each project is just as important.

If you want a planning number for your own wall while you read, keep our media wall cost calculator open in another tab. It estimates a custom media wall based on your wall size and the options you choose, and it shows what each choice adds before you talk to anyone. Most builds take two to four weeks to complete.

How to read these media wall specs

Each project starts with the same details the cost calculator asks for: wall size and ceiling height, TV, fireplace (none, electric, or gas), feature wall finish, storage, and composition (symmetrical or asymmetrical). I added lighting, timeline, and budget range because the drawings and job files record them. Budget ranges are for the finished media wall as built. Each wall includes framing, drywall, finish work, electrical rough-in, and the storage shown. The homeowners supplied their own televisions.

Locations are listed at the city level only. Here are the ten custom media walls, from Peoria to Scottsdale and across the Valley.

Use this to find the wall closest to your room, then read it.

Homeowner review: “We recently used TWD to install a new media wall in our living room, and we couldn't be happier with the results! Emily in the design center was very patient as we asked for several design renderings and options at the beginning of our project until we settled on the final version. The Project Manager, Robert, communicated each step of the process well and was present from start to finish. Each tradesperson who came into our house to do their portion of the job was friendly, knowledgeable, and always courteous. A drywall project comes with some mess, but everyone who worked in the house did their best to clean up their work area at the end of each day. TWD will be the company we turn to for any future home renovation projects.”

10. Scottsdale stone fireplace wall built around an existing firebox

As part of the same project, we also built a second fireplace wall in the kitchen, 70 inches wide with a 56 inch mantel and a 60 inch hearth piece. The budget range and timeline above cover only the wall shown in the photo.

What do these ten media walls have in common?

Those are the ten. Seven of them have a fireplace, and three don't. Six have a stone, tile, or stone-look face, and four are painted or limewashed. Seven of the ten have built-in storage. The Phoenix laminate wall has none, the Peoria stacked stone wall has only a wiring niche behind the TV, and the Peoria limewash wall has an equipment niche and a hearth bench but no cabinets or shelves. Build time ran two weeks on five of them, two to three weeks on one, three weeks on two, four weeks on one, and five weeks on one.

I can't hand you a popularity chart, and I wouldn't design your wall from one anyway. What these ten came out as is a more honest thing than a trend list.

Where the real decisions happen is the same on every wall:

Decision The options What it changes
Fireplace None, electric, or gas Gas costs more and needs a gas line and venting. I recommend electric for most Phoenix homes, and no fireplace at all is a perfectly good answer.
Storage None, mantel shelf, open shelves, cabinets, or a mix Cabinets hide consoles and cords. Shelves show off what you want seen. More boxes and doors cost more.
Feature wall finish Paint or plaster, tile, stone, or slab Painted and limewashed faces keep the focus on the room. Stone and slab make the wall the feature and cost more.
Composition Symmetrical or asymmetrical Symmetrical is the classic look. Asymmetrical works around a window, a door, or a corner, or when one bay has to carry the TV.
TV size 55 to 98 inches, or none In a wide or vaulted room, a TV that looked huge in the store can look small, so the wall gets built out around it.

The fireplace is the biggest fork in the road, and it's the one choice worth settling before you draw anything else. On storage, decide what you want hidden and the plan mostly writes itself.

For reference, the cost calculator opens on a basic configuration, and you can adjust each option from there to see how the range changes.

What protects you on a project like this

When investing in a home remodeling project, it's important to feel confident in who you're hiring. Beyond the design and final result, you want to know that the company working in your home is licensed, experienced, and backed by a strong reputation. Taking time to research a contractor's credentials, customer reviews, and past work helps you make an informed decision and feel confident in your investment.

Every TWD media wall carries a 2-year warranty on TWD-supplied materials and craftsmanship, in writing, in the contract. TWD also stands behind a 100% satisfaction guarantee, with a walk-through at the end of the job to catch anything that is not right before we call it finished.

Before any of that, you see the wall in 3D renderings, approve the design, and pick the tile, stone, and cabinetry in person at the showroom rather than on a screen. Your design retainer includes three design revisions, so you can fine-tune the layout, finishes, and details until the wall is exactly what you pictured. When you move forward with your build, the full retainer is credited toward your project. Because the retainer pays for the design work itself, it is non-refundable.

From start to finish, a dedicated project manager oversees your project and coordinates scheduling, crews, and communication. This ensures you always have a direct point of contact and know what to expect throughout the remodeling process. Your project manager oversees our subcontractors to ensure quality workmanship and attention to detail.

Throughout construction, you'll also have 24/7 access to our Buildertrend client portal, where you can view project schedules, progress photos, important documents, and payments, so you stay informed every step of the way.

On living with the work: every job is different, and whether you stay in the home during construction is up to you. Either way, we prep the home before construction begins to protect your belongings from debris, cover the room with protective sheeting, and clean up at the end of each workday.

Resale impact varies by home and by design. A media wall is a permanent built-in, not furniture, and buyers see it as a finished feature that may add additional value to the home.

TWD partners with Hearth to offer flexible home improvement financing options. The process begins with a soft credit prequalification that won't impact your credit score, so you can explore options without affecting it. All financing is handled directly through Hearth, and TWD does not charge any additional fees for choosing to finance your project.

When you approve your proposal, TWD requires a 50% deposit on the overall job price so we can begin ordering materials. Change orders vary by job, are always communicated to you before the work changes, and are paid in full up front.

Frequently asked questions about custom media walls in Phoenix

Does a media wall need a fireplace?

Not at all! Media walls can be customized to fit your style and needs, with or without a fireplace. Three of the ten projects featured above were designed without one, showcasing everything from sleek stone-look laminate to custom cabinetry and shelving. We completed all three projects in just two weeks.

Can I see media wall examples in person?

You can see the materials in person at our Phoenix remodel showroom, where you select tile, stone, cabinetry, and other finishes. Our online gallery includes finished media walls, and your designer can walk you through examples that match your plans, including 3D renderings of your wall before we build it.

Do you build media walls in my area?

We work across Greater Phoenix, Scottsdale, Peoria, Glendale, Surprise, Litchfield Park, Cave Creek, Goodyear, and surrounding Valley communities.

How long did these projects take?

Most custom media wall projects take two to four weeks to complete. Your finalized design determines the timeline. Design and showroom selections happen before the build starts, which often takes two to three weeks, give or take.

Can I keep my existing fireplace and build around it?

Absolutely! In many cases, we can incorporate your existing fireplace into a new media wall design. For example, in project 10, our Scottsdale fireplace wall featured above, we kept the original gas fireplace and built a custom stone surround and mantel around it. During your consultation, our team can evaluate your existing fireplace and determine how to incorporate it into your new design.

Why hire a remodeling contractor instead of a cabinet maker or a carpenter?

A custom media wall often involves multiple trades, including framing, drywall, electrical, cabinetry, and finish work. Instead of coordinating several contractors yourself, a design-build remodeling company like TWD keeps everything under one roof. From the initial design to the finishing touches, our team coordinates each phase of construction, with one dedicated project manager overseeing the entire process for a seamless experience.

Can I supply my own stone or tile?

Absolutely! Homeowners may provide their own stone or tile, and our team can install it. Please note that TWD's workmanship warranty covers our installation work but does not cover defects, damage, or issues with homeowner-supplied materials.
